Rumour has it that warmer temperatures are incoming. Not entirely by coincidence, this week’s new arrivals are ready for the season.
Each and every year, spring arrives without much fanfare. The skies remain grey, the weather gloomy, until a few weeks later when the sun finally breaks through. Yes, this is exactly how the seasons work, we hear you cry, but each and every year we find ourselves unprepared for the change in weather. So consider this a warning – yes, the temperatures are rising, and yes, you will need to pack away the knitwear. Instead, you’ll want a wardrobe of cool fabrics, short sleeves and easy layers, like those we’ve detailed below.
Earn your stripes
In certain circles there's often talk of “injecting pattern” into an outfit, something which sounds a bit surgical if you ask us. But come spring we’re definitely fans of clothing a little less plain, whether that’s full-blown Hawaiian print or a subtly striped t-shirt. It’s a little more interesting that your average plain tee, with the result being that you’ll look a little more curated. Wear under a Utility Blazer or tuck into a pair of formal trousers.
Don't be caught short
We’ve all been guilty of reaching for shorts the second the mercury rises into double digits. It’s part of the great British condition – we like to make the most of the little sun we get – but sometimes it isn’t always practical or desirable to flaunt your pins in April. Enter our new Casual Chino Trousers. Crafted from breathable cotton twill, they’re as well suited to Saturdays in the park as they are to Mondays in the office. If you’re intent on showing some skin, roll them up at the ankles and go sock-less.
Hot under the collar
Walk into our 306 Portobello Road store and you’d be forgiven for thinking that Sir Plus had a problem with collars. Hated them. Couldn’t stand the sight of them. Between our Nehru jackets and grandad shirts, our style up until this point has been firmly in the open-necked camp, with Adam’s apples proudly on display. That all changes with the arrival of our new White Linen Shirt, our first shirt to feature a proper pointed collar. Worn buttoned up with a patterned silk tie, it looks formal but not constricting. Worn open over a t-shirt, it’s an easy throw-on piece.
